The Golden Compass is also the name of an upcoming videogame based on the film His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass to be released in the U.S. December of 2007. The game is being published by Sega.

Players assume the role of a young girl named Lyra as she travels through the frozen wastes of the North in an attempt to rescue a friend (Roger Parslow) kidnapped by a mysterious organization known as The Gobblers. Travelling with her are an Armoured Bear named Iorek Byrnison and her daemon Pantalaimon (Pan). Together, they must use their truth-telling alethiometer and other items to explore the land and fight their way through various enemies in order to help Lyra's friend. [3]
