No, you're sadly mistaken. The title you give is the one for the US market only, and was imposed by the US publisher against Philip Pullman's will; elsewhere in the English-speaking market, Pullman's chosen title of "Northern Lights" is used. — [[User:RobertATfm|RobertATfm]] ([[User_talk:RobertATfm|talk]]) 01:45, September 4, 2015 (UTC)

::Adding the new image to the article of course updates it (and there is plently of space underneath the article with no images at all) - though I think there was an original cover in the US and an original in the UK that were different. I agree the infobox image could be the most interesting but seeing as the image in the infobox is the first image you see if you're in a category, of course going onto the page and if the wiki gets featured on Google's sidebar QuickAnswers thing, that image is likely to show up. So it should probably be the most up to date, unless we add an image of the original and latest covers side by side to show the difference? I am afraid this wiki is severally wrong as the first book in the dark material trilogy is called The Golden Compass, not The Northern Lights.

No, you're sadly mistaken. The title you give is the one for the US market only, and was imposed by the US publisher against Philip Pullman's will; elsewhere in the English-speaking market, Pullman's chosen title of "Northern Lights" is used. — RobertATfm (talk) 01:45, September 4, 2015 (UTC)

Might it be prudent for the alternative name to be mentioned explicitly on this page, lest future editors encounter the same confusion? - Lucy 06:48, September 4, 2015 (UTC)

Use of new images[]

Should the newer book cover images (File:NL 2017 Cover.jpg, File:TSK 2017 Cover.jpg and File:TAS 2017 Cover.jpg) be used in the infobox over the older covers? The old covers would then be moved down the page. NightSpeakers - My Blogs! 11:38, March 2, 2019 (UTC)

I think we should have a gallery on this page of old covers, but I'm not sure if the infobox image should be the newest or the original. I think having the original cover would be the most interesting because it shows readers immediately what the original print of the book was like, and if we do the newest, then we would have to keep updating it every time a new cover came out (which might be confusing?) --MusicaLƎƎ (talk) 20:20, March 5, 2019 (UTC)
Adding the new image to the article of course updates it (and there is plently of space underneath the article with no images at all) - though I think there was an original cover in the US and an original in the UK that were different. I don't know how often new book covers come out (hopefully not as many as HP - a new edition for each house for each book every anniversary....) though surely it's no more than one every couple of years which is pretty easy to manage. NightSpeakers - My Blogs! 22:08, March 5, 2019 (UTC)
