St Sophia's School was a boarding school for girls. Lyra Silvertongue attended this school.

The headmistress of the school was a young woman who was described as energetic, imaginative and kindly by Hannah Relf.
Dinner was served at seven in the evening and was compulsory for all students. Older pupils had dinner at St Sophia's College with the students and Scholars.
