Samoyeds are chinese people that live in Svalbard where the Panserbjørne live in Lyra's world. They wonder around Svalbard and also deliver gifts to the King of the Ice bears and also allies to Bolvangar. Their daemons are wolves and travel in groups in the cold glacier. During The Golden Compass, a group of Samoyeds were seen where they chasing after Lord Asriel and his daemon, Stelmaria. They manage to capture him and take him to the Ice bear's kingdom. Samoyeds were also seen again where they ambush the Gyptians and take Lyra to the ice bears as a gift to King Iofur Raknison.
