Smokeleaf, also known as smoke-leaf, was a product made from the dried leaves of a plant. It was the main component of cigars and cigarillos.[1] Old Ludgate was a brand/type of smokeleaf which was favoured by Coram van Texel.[2] When Lyra Belacqua was hiding in the Retiring Room closet, she could smell smoke-leaf mixed in with the smell of Poppy.[3] Smokeleaf traders frequently visited The Trout Inn.[4]
When taken to Bolvangar, Lyra told Sister Clara that she and her father were in the North to trade New Danish smokeleaf for furs.[5]
